About US

About Us

Founded in 1978 in Montserrat, the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC) library has been a cornerstone of the university's medical education for decades. After relocating from Montserrat to St. Maarten in 1995 due to volcanic activity the library embraced a transformative shift towards a hybrid library model. Our current library offers an extensive range of cloud-based resources, including AccessMedicine, UpToDate, and the Cochrane Library, all continuously updated to meet the evolving needs of our academic community.

To improve research efficiency and access, the library launched a Discovery Service that integrates our subscribed content with thousands of free biomedical resources. This tool simplifies research and facilitates Interlibrary Loan requests.

Our physical library space at the AUC in Sint Maarten remains open 24/7, providing a dedicated study environment with staff support available during business hours. The AUC library is committed to leveraging advanced technologies and services to enhance the educational experience.
